Mermaid Wave classes are especially designed to give you water confidence and an understanding of how to use a monofin safely in water. You will be trained to understand how to perform the butterfly kick at different swim lengths including twirls, twist and stoke efficiency. The course is robust and designed by professionals to give our mermaids and sharks the opportunity to learn new techniques and shine brightly.
With small groups and senior Swim Instructors the classes are a winning success and enjoyed by all participants. In order to join a mermaid/shark class children are required to be able to:
-swim 25 metres unaided
-float comfortably on their back
If you feel your child is unable to perform these activities unaided we recommend you contact your local Mermaid Wave Instructor to discuss options available.
The 6- 12 week course(s) cover the Sea Star Award that will take you through week by week lessons that build your knowledge and appreciation for monofin swimming, building on core strength and overall fluid movement.
Mermaids & Sharks will have the opportunity to bring their own tails and fins that can be purchased from www.planetmermaid.com or alternatively you can use your local Mermaid Wave school kit or ask for an order form from one of the Instructors.
