The Ocean covers more than 70% of the surface of our planet but we still have a lot to learn about this incredible ecosystem.

Did you know…

The largest ocean is the Pacific; it spreads nearly half way around the world from Asia to the Americas and from Antarctica North almost to the Artic.  It is also known to be the deepest ocean recorded, a whopping 32,995 feet deep at the Pacific’s Philippine Trench.

If you are looking for somewhere exotic and tranquil then why not try the Philippines, in particular Linapacan Island, situated just off the coast of Palawan boasting complete R&R and exceptional for snorkelling.

The Maldives is another fantastic choice famous for crystal clear waters and white Sandy beaches.

Phi Phi Island in Thailand should certainly be on anyone’s bucket list, the laid back atmosphere and gorgeous beaches make it a must on anyone’s list!

Crater Lake in Oregon is created from an ancient volcano and is perfect for swimming due to the colour of the deep blue lake.

Coming closer to home Macarella Beach in Menorca Spain is an idyllic cove making it perfect for that tranquil swim in turquoise waters.

The above all sound and look amazing but if your budget cannot stretch that far then why not try somewhere closer to home, Bamburgh in Northumberland boasts sweeping seascapes and brooding landscapes making it the perfect beach experience.

If like me you have a child obsessed with all things Disney and dreams of becoming the next Ariel then what I am about to tell you will bring a big smile not only to yours but also your child’s face.

I was attending our local swimming pool where both my daughters take lessons when I saw on the noticeboard Planet Mermaid advertising a 6 week swim course dedicated to becoming a mermaid!

I know Planet Mermaid well as I have purchased my daughters outfit from them and their products are nothing but excellent.  I still remember my daughters face when she opened her present and then proceeding to run to the bath to test it out.

We went to Spain on holiday last year and my daughter was the talk of the pool, I am sure she wore her tail for most of the holiday; we couldn’t get her out of the water!

The courses are run by dedicated experienced professionals and have locations throughout the UK promising to give your child the feeling of becoming a real life mermaid.

I have signed my eldest daughter to their next available course in Bedford in April….will let you know how she gets on…..

First Mermaid Wave Instructor Training Day

Mermaid Wave and Planet Mermaid are very excited to announce that its first Instructor training day has taken place.

Our trainees were put through a day’s intense training programme comprising of different elements including pool and class based work.

The aim of the day was to give more knowledge to our level 2 teachers on the butterfly kick and how it is used in conjunction with the mono fins and tails.

The pool training covered safety positions and different activities which the instructors can go on to use independently during their own lessons, swimming parties and other events.

We now have 9 fully fledged instructors available to host mermaid lessons, parties, events and fitness classes around the country so sign up today to receive more information about exciting events coming to your area.
